IRS Publishes Official Version of the Discount for Lack of Marketability Job Aid

On September 1, 2010, the Internal Revenue Service officially published a version of the DLOM Job Aid on its website in response to the document being informally released (or leaked) to the valuation community over the summer.  To obtain a copy of the official IRS version of the DLOM Job Aid, click the link below.

This document was originally published in September of 2009.  While the DLOM Job Aid does not represent official IRS positions and is for reference purposes only, it is unclear why it was not made publicly available for two years.

The valuation professionals of Henry & Horne’s Business Valuation and Litigation Support Services Department believe that this document represents a significant advancement in the dialogue and understanding of the most current methods to estimate an appropriate discount for lack of marketability between the IRS and the valuation community.

To highlight the importance of this development, Steve Koons, CPA\ABV\CFF, ASA and Mark Hughes CPA\ABV\CFF will be providing more information about this topic in the future.  We look forward to bringing this information into focus, and will post updates to our blog as our work develops.  If you have questions about how the IRS DLOM Job Aid will impact your practice, please do not hesitate to contact us.
