Henry & Horne's typical career progression:
Staff Accountant
Staff accountants represent Henry & Horne's entry level position, and are recent college graduates or professionals with limited experience. Staff-level employees receive experience in either income tax or auditing. We also provide extensive on-the-job training, which we believe provides a solid foundation for future career growth.
Senior Accountant
Our Senior Accountants generally have at least three years of public accounting experience. Seniors are responsible for the day-to-day completion of audit or tax engagements from beginning to end. Seniors also are responsible for training staff-level team members assigned to their engagements. This combined responsibility makes the role of a Senior a most challenging position.
Supervisor
Our Supervisors have at least four years of public accounting experience and have demonstrated their ability to work independently. They possess complete knowledge of the Firm's philosophy and are conversant with its quality control policies and procedures. They are primarily responsible for larger and more complex engagements and may oversee two or more engagements simultaneously. They assume responsibility for supervising engagements and special assignments, can review working papers and financial statements, and can communicate with clients on a one-to-one basis. Supervisors are expected to have their CPA certificate or other professional certification before promotion to manager.
Manager
Drawing on their base of five to eight years of experience, Managers are responsible for handling several client engagements simultaneously, as well as maintaining client relationships and developing a referral network for business development. Our Managers possess a high-level understanding of business and industry concepts, and use these as a foundation for providing proactive advice to current and prospective clients.
Senior Manager
A Senior Manager has effectively developed the skills of a Manager and is tasked with handling increasingly complex client situations and may, at times, supervise managers and the balance of the client service team. The Senior Manager also becomes increasingly involved in Firm management and is expected to have developed a network of contacts and increased visibility in the community.
Partner
A candidate for Partner at Henry & Horne generally will have at least 10 years of experience in public accounting and have been continually employed by the firm for at least two complete years. At this level, the individual has proven to be an exceptionally skilled technician, personnel supervisor, client account manager and business advisor. Partners are responsible for developing and maintaining client relationships; reviewing and approving technical work products; and overall firm administration.
