The Better Business Bureau recently held their annual Business Ethics Awards on April 30, 2009 at the Arizona Biltmore. The event honors businesses in the Valley of the Sun who have demonstrated high standards of ethical business conduct and practices, both internally and externally. I had the pleasure of attending this event with one of my clients. Also in attendance were other H&H team members and their invited guests.
According to the emcee, there were over 300 companies nominated. These nominees were then narrowed down to 15 finalists in five categories. Each of these five finalists exemplified the required criteria to be considered for this award. It is good to know that there are many companies out there who take pride in the service they provide, especially in these times where customer service seems to be out the door.
The keynote speaker for this event was Dr. Ken Blanchard. He is an author, speaker, and business consultant. He is best known for his best-selling book, The One Minute Manager, which he co-authored. I thought he delivered his speech with compassion and humor. I enjoyed listening to him speak.
All in all this was a great event. The food was good and the dessert was even better. I especially enjoyed the company I was with. It was nice to visit with the client on a more social level instead of the typical hum-drum business meeting.
